Joey Simcoe is in his fourth season as the head wrestling coach at Tiffin University. He is responsible for all aspects of the program. During his tenure the Dragons have qualified eight for nationals and in 2013 had their first ever NCAA All-American with a total of four All-Americans since 2014-2015. Joey has also had success off the mat with a total of fourteen Academic All-Americans. During the 2014-2015 season, Simcoe and company finished ninth in the country - the highest ranking ever in school history. They also finished second in the GLIAC, which was the highest in school history. During this historic season, the wrestling team beat rival University of Findlay, where Joey was a successful student-athlete for four years. Last but not least, the team outplaced all GLIAC and all Super Regional II teams at the National Tournament.
Prior to coming to Tiffin, Simcoe spent the last five years as assistant coach under his former head coach Shawn Nelson at The University of Findlay, and most recently with former Roughneck All-American Jarad Swint at Cumberland University (Tenn). As an assistant Simcoe has helped mentor 5 National Champions, 16 All-Americans, and 21 Academic All-Americans.
Simcoe graduated with a BA in Criminal Justice from the University of Findlay in 2004, and was named Academic All-American the same year. He was a three time All-American in wrestling and was elected team captain three times. He still ranks among the top all time in near fall points both in a season and career.
A 1999 graduate of Northridge High School (Johnstown, Ohio), Joey was a three time State Qualifier and two time State placer, only surrendering four offensive points in his senior season.
