Bobby is in the process of designing a restaurant and bar area at Seneca Hills. The last week of may I designed a menu for the restaurant and a bar menu for the daily golfers. This was fun and intriguing. Making sure each item was lined appropriately as well as explained the menu item with a good, “tasty” description.

Bobby hosts a Jr. Golf Outing each Summer. My responsibility was to create a pamphlet to further promote the event. The pamphlet included a welcoming message from Bobby, itinerary of the camp, the focus of the camp and information regarding each interested golfer. This pamphlet focused more on engaging in youth golfers and encouraging them to further get out to improve and enhance their game. In the middle of May, Bobby assigned me to "spice up" (the terms he used) different types of brochures. I had to re design a wedding brochure, reception brochure, Jr. Golf Outing pamphlet and a few more. Unfortunately, because the brochure files too big, I cannot upload them. However, it was fun putting my graphic design skills to use and seeing the different options you can use to design brochures. I focused extensively on the wedding brochure at first. I was able to Google various ideas, as I have had no prior graphic design history. I felt I did a great job making sure the pamphlet “popped” and was welcoming to customers. The brochure took me around 3-5 days and Bobby seemed please. I enjoyed this project a lot. It is an advantage for me in my career as I continue to go further and design various projects for the women's soccer team. In May I interned with Bobby Pollitt at Seneca Hills Golf Club. Seneca Hills is located in Tiffin, Ohio. The first week I was responsible for financial sheets affiliated with the golf club. Each day the cash register is closed and a list of the items sold daily are printed. I was responsible for inserting each item sold daily into a spreadsheet that eventually totaled the cost for each day, week and then month. This was extremely time consuming. I also was not formally shown how to insert each category correctly, therefore, I went with it and it turned out correct - thank God! This was my project for the first two weeks. I completed twelve months in 2014 and the first four months in 2015. Both Saturday and Sunday I will be in charge of supervising the event to make sure things run as smoothly as possible. I will also be encouraging Juniors and Seniors to engage in our Admissions table with the help of Holly Brennan, a Tiffin University Admissions counselor. This event was by far the biggest we have hosted yet.
This weekend Tiffin University will be hosting the OH-Way State Tournament. Wrestling will start at 9:00 a.m. on both Saturday (D1-4) and Sunday (D6-7 and girls). For the past month and a half, I have worked extensively with Joey on preparing for this event. With over 200 kids there, I have had the job of contacting JoElle Hall with Admissions to organize a table introducing Tiffin University both academically and athletically. Also, I have organized the women's soccer team to volunteer at the event throughout the day. Their job will be as timers, runners, security, concessions and more. They will be working the event all day Saturday and for a few hours Sunday. Prior to the match, I helped set up the mats, chairs and clock equipment in Gilmore. Typically the men's team wrestles in the Heminger Center but due to an outside conflict, they had to schedule the match in Gilmore. After setting up, the players get skin tested from the head ATC to check for staff, any infections, etc. After skin check, the players then get weighed in by the opposing team's coaches. This is to insure no cheating occurs. Players must meet their required weight in order to wrestle that match. For the full report of the match, check out: http://www.gotiffindragons.com/article/2844.php At the event, my main job was to float around and make sure everything went smooth. It was a fun event to attend. Joey was explaining each year the event continues to grow from different cities throughout Ohio. I have never smelt or seen so many kids in my life.
This week Joey and I are prepping for the OHWAY Novice State Tournament. My main duties will include floating around to assist with working the clock, cleaning the mats, pointing people in the right direction. Etc. Joey is preparing me for the event and how it works since it deals with youth wrestling, which is different from college wrestling. A few requirements for eligibility include: 1. OH-WAY Novice Championships are open to Ohio residents ONLY. 2. 4 years experience or less. 3. No OAC state qualification (not including the current year) 4. No OYWA state qualification (not including the current year) 5. Cannot have placed top 6 at OH-WAY State, unless 8-man bracket or less (not including the current year) 6. This form must be signed by the Athlete, Parent and Coach certifying the wrestler’s eligibility. (If the parent is the coach then the parent must sign as the coach also.) I will also be sending out an e-mail blast two times a week to promote the event for all youth in the state of Ohio
This upcoming week, Tiffin University will be hosting the OHWAY Novice State Tournament. OHWAY's mission is to develop opportunities to advance the sport of wrestling by uniting Ohio’s Leagues and giving youth wrestlers the opportunity to learn the sport at all levels. Through a united purpose and standard criteria, Ohio’s wrestlers will be able to compete at the highest levels nationally. The Ohio Wrestling Association for Youth mission includes the development of sportsmanship, leadership, and character. Wrestling teaches more character building skills than many other sports. It teaches how to win and lose gracefully; to always give 100%; and if you’re knocked down, you always get back up and NEVER QUIT. It teaches leadership, work ethic, self-discipline, teamwork, delayed gratification, responsibility, honor and respect. Too many kids in society today lack these attributes. We feel our sport develops a winning attitude in wrestlers that builds confidence, self-respect, and pride. All these attributes are key components of success and prepares them to meet all of life’s challenges (ABOUT, n.d.). References: ABOUT. (n.d.).
